A peek from the Town Crier’s July 6, 1978 issue – Wall to Wall People Fill Mildmay Streets! The Crier camera was only able to catch this many people during the Tri-Celebration “Free” Midnight Street Dance. The event was staged following midnight on Sunday and an overwhelming amount of people turned out to dance to the music of “The Midnight Express”. The dance came to a close at about four in the morning. From all reports, everyone enjoyed the early morning dancing.  A parade from the new Recreation Complex started the night off.     – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s June 8, 1978 issue – From 1886 up to the present date, Carrick Camp Meetings were being held on the 10th Concession (about 4 miles east of Mildmay) on 4 acres purchased from the Joseph Losch farm. During the early part of the Camp’s history, people stayed in tents, cottages or rooms in the Boarding Hall for weeks at a time. The photo shows how sections of the tabernacle wall were once hinged to permit a crowd overflow to listen from outside.

A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, May 17, 1968 issue – With Spring comes green grass, flowers, budding trees, birds and bees… but what could be better that a newborn colt… especially one as small and cuddly like the one above on the farm of Mr. & Mrs. William Huber. Un-named at the time of the photo, this Shetland mare was “it” to young Wendy Rolston and Susan Hafermehl (arm around pony).        – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s Wednesday, May 21, 2008 issue – A Mildmay landmark was dismantled very quickled on May 20, when some 50 Mennonite workers gathered at the site. The old building is presently owned by local jewellery businessman, David Wendt and a new structure was going to replace it.  The building has served a number of past owners, probably as a feed and grist mill for the longest period of time, owned and operated by such former residents as Eugene Schnurr, Norman Hossfeld and Earl Guse.        – Town Crier photo
