A peek from the Town Crier’s Thursday, September 27, 1979 issue – Congratulations are extended to these two groups of young dancers who took top honours in the square dance competitions held in conjunction with The Western Fair in London, Ontario. Promoter Nick Lang is seen here with both champion dancing groups. Pictured on the left are the “Bruce Mixers” who won the Junior Division. Members include Barb Lang, Laurie Ditner, Darlene Ditner, Donna Ditner, Jeff Holliday, Dave Gutscher, Alan Schnurr and Wendel Schnurr. The Mildmay Stepping Timers, who are pictured on the right, took the Grand Championship in the Senior Division. Members include Cathy Lang, Brenda Lang, Daphne Eickmeier, Debby Eickmeier, Dan Eickmeier, Bruce Lang, Don Busby and Doug Busby.

It’s been 50 years since fire broke out during the night on August 27, 1969 at the Teeswater Creamery. The above photo is an overview of what it looked like after the fire. Employees, neighbours and townspeople came to help with the clean-up. Thanks to Don Thompson for sharing his photo!

A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, September 19, 1969 issue – This was a scene of a portion of the school children’s parade at the Fair on September 6 here in Mildmay. The parade was bigger than last year with added floats entered, clowns, decorated bikes, parade horses, band and commercial vehicles.

Tony retired on August 1, 1979 and his last customer was none other than Milton (Moses) Filsinger of Carrick Township, seen here being measured by Tony, Mildmay’s tailor. A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, June 27, 1969 issue – The Mildmay Women’s Institute were commended for making benches, such as the one shown, available to residents of the community. Two additional benches were also placed in the village, one at the east portion (at Chester Pinnell’s residence, currently 16 Absalom St. E.) and one towards the western part of the village (at the Otto Dahms residence, currently 21 Absalom St. W.). – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s Wednesday, August 18, 1999 issue -The Teeswater-Culross Old Boys’ Reunion was held from Friday, July 30 to Monday, August 2, 1999. Chairman Wallace Ballagh is pictured riding in a bright yellow convertible in the parade. He received a loud round of applause from the huge crowd of spectators.
