A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, April 16, 1971 issue – The recent Skate-a-thon started well with skaters eager and determined to finish the 24 hour time set by officials. But, the time seemed to go slower as the day wore on and the skaters wore down…  

By the next morning, the skating crowd had dipped down to one lone skater. . . here he is as he made his way down the familiar ice pad. It was figured out that Mike Goetz’ “round-the-clock” skate, if put in miles, worked out to over 125 miles.
