A charity volleyball tournament called Spikes for Danica, held on the Saturday of the Mildmay Fall Fair, honoured the memory of the late Danica Baker. The event drew 23 teams, and several generous donations – all going towards the BBVB Danica Baker Memorial Bursary Fund, which was created to help provide area youth with the opportunity to afford sports and extra-curricular activities. Organizers included her friends, family and Bluewater Ballistix team which she played on. “There were lots of smiles and some tears,” stated the Bluewater Ballistix in social media posts. “We look forward to celebrating Danica’s life and her love for volleyball for years to come.”
