Mildmay’s annual Hanging of the Green will take place later this month on Friday, November 28th. This year marks the 32nd year for the festive community event!
This year’s theme is The Magic of Christmas, so you can start to think about perhaps incorporating that into your decorations or maybe for a parade entry. Speaking of parade entries, the famous lighted Santa Claus parade will be held at 7:45 pm. The parade will begin at Connect Equipment located across from the Rotary Park.
A new event last year, a special concert of Christmas memories, will be held again following the parade at St. Paul’s United Church. If last year’s performance is any indication, you will thoroughly enjoy this performance by local musicians!
Hanging of the Green Chair Sherry Durrer said that her committee is once again looking for volunteers. If you are interested in lending a hand, you can contact Sherry at Surroundings 519-367-2636. She also noted that any non-profit group interested in selling food or other items at the event can contact her for more information.
The Sharing of the Green 50-50 tickets are now on sale in local businesses. This fundraiser is sponsored by the Mildmay & District Chamber of Commerce and the Mildmay Business Association. Proceeds go towards main street improvements and the Hanging of the Green expenses. The draw will take place at the Optimist Club’s Breakfast With Santa on Sunday, November 30th at the Mildmay-Carrick Recreation Complex. Last year’s winner received $2,008.00! What a great prize, just in time for Christmas shopping.
