A peek from the Town Crier’s Tuesday, September 8, 1992 issue – Some of the first souvenirs for next year’s Homecoming celebration went on sale last week at various Mildmay businesses. Besides the traditional hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, shorts, key chains and lapel pins, is this miniature Case tractor complete with Mildmay Homecoming medallion. A peek from the Town Crier’s Tuesday, October 6, 1992 issue – Workers were busy demolishing the former Ford Garage on the corner of Elora and First Streets in Mildmay to make room for a proposed new Beckers Milk Store. At the time of publishing, the property had been completely prepared for the new structure which the new owners hoped to open some time in December.  (This is currently the location of the Circle K store.)    – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s Tuesday, July 7, 1992 issue – Len Kuntz of Mildmay had a cactus plant which last week popped out seventeen large blooms. He said they began opening after supper and only bloom for about one day. He says you can actually watch the blooms opening, like time-lapse photography.     – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s August 15, 2001 issue – The Formosa 2001 Homecoming celebration kicked off on Thursday night, August 2nd when fourteen young women entered the Homecoming Ambassador Pageant. Lacie Batte (centre) won the competition. She was sponsored by Bio-Ag. Janelle Soers (left) was named “Miss Congeniality” and also the 1st Runner-Up. She was sponsored by Formosa Springs Brewery. A peek from the Town Crier’s Tuesday, July 7, 1992 issue – This photo of the CN car headed for Mildmay’s Station Tavern gives a view of the size of it as the unit is trucked through the town. The car came from Montreal to Harriston on its own set of wheels, and was then trucked from Harriston to Mildmay and set back on its own wheels again.    – Town Crier photo

A peek from the Town Crier’s June 9, 1972 issue – Work on the Mildmay-Carrick swim pool swung into high gear this week and for the first time in more than a month, residents can now see that the project of the Mildmay Rotary Club will be ready for this summer. There had been several setbacks in the earlier construction, but all seems to be rectified. Here one can see the work being done on the change house and the pool builders too were busy on Wednesday of this week blowing in the cement of the pool itself.     – Town Crier photo
