A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, February 18, 1972 issue – Mrs. Patricia Cross, R.N. watches the control panel and tape of a patient’s heartbeat. The equipment is only part of the complex new Intensive Care Unit at the County of Bruce General Hospital in Walkerton. These very old photos were brought into the Town Crier office by one of our subscribers.  The top one is a photo of Horseshoe Falls.   Also referred to as the Canadian Falls, it is the largest of the three falls that form Niagara Falls.  The second photo shows the American Falls and the ice mountains.  It’s interesting to see all the people walking under that frozen falls.   We welcome submissions for the “Peek at the Past” feature.  You can drop them off at our office or email them to thecrier@wightman.ca.  We’d love to share them with everyone!

A peek from the Town Crier’s January 16, 2002 issue – Mildmay’s Juvenile Hockey Club claimed one of the top jewels in minor hockey for the second consecutive year. . . they captured the Juvenile “C” Silver Stick Championship after a perfect weekend in Mooretown, Ontario. This same club won the All-Ontario Juvenile crown last season.

A peek from the Town Crier’s  Friday, January 21, 1972 issue – Top photo:  Edgar “Heschy” Lehman (right) makes the final delivery from the Formosa Springs Brewery to the Commercial Hotel, Mildmay on December 31, 1971.  “Heschy” also made the first delivery to the same place back in the year 1935. At that time he drove an open stake body truck and the beer came in 225 lb. wood barrels. He was with the company 43 years, 40 of those on the road. He started on April 1, 1929 and at that time only 10 men worked at Formosa. Helping him is Francis Schaefer (left) and Bob Hickey (centre).
