A peek from the Town Crier’s Friday, April 5, 1968 issue – There was no doubt about it… victory for the Mildmay Squirt (Novice) Hockey team at the Mildmay Tournament was a happy occasion indeed! This was just the second time that Mildmay had won the honour. The final game against Belgrave ended in a 2-2 tie, so total shots on goal determined the winner. This total favoured Mildmay 9-5. Bottom Photo: Seconds after the final gong, the crowd thronged on to the ice to mingle with the players. Top Photo: Team Captain, Gord Hill proudly accepts the silverware from Tournament Chairman John “Stew” Cronin.
