A peek from the Town Crier’s April 14, 1999 issue – A Mildmay landmark was dismantled when some 40 Mennonite men arrived at the old Turnip Waxing Plan, located on Absalom Street West, Mildmay. The building was owned by Lloyd Schnurr and was being used for storage. It had not been used for the turnip business since the Hauser Bros., John and Claude, ceased waxing and shipping operations many years ago. (The building was situated beside the railroad tracks, up the street and across from the current Mildmay Lions Wilderness Park.) – Town Crier photo
