A peek from the Town Crier files – April 16, 1971 – The Mildmay Arena Commission held a Skate-A-Thon with some 123 skaters taking part. Organizer of the event, Arthur Albert (right) is pictured presenting trophies to the various winners. Left to right: Dave Dietz, 24, was the oldest skater with the most number of hours, who skated 21 hours;  Anna Lou Fischer was the girl who skated the longest, and she also skated 21 hours; 19-year-old Mike Goetz was the only person to skate the entire 24 hours and he raised the most money;  Brian Durrer, age 10, was the youngest skater with the most number of hours, that being 16.  A grand total of $1,900 was raised.
